The Cleveland Browns made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2002 and running back Nick Chubb's stellar play was a major reason why. Chubb recently weighed in on the possibility of signing a contract extension with the team and sounded hopeful that a deal could get done.

Nick Chubb Contract Extension

Chubb has been a dominant backfield force for the Browns ever since he was drafted in Round 2 of the 2018 NFL Draft (No. 35 overall). He has racked up at least 1,145 yards from scrimmage in each of his first three NFL seasons and sports an impressive career average of 5.2 yards per carry.

However, the two-time Pro Bowler in entering the final season of his four-year rookie contract. He will become an unrestricted free agent next offseason unless some sort of long-term contract extension is agreed upon. Chubb was adamant about his hopes to stay a part of the Browns.

"Cleveland is where I want to be so I hope everything can work out in that direction."

Chubb on a possible contract extension

The Browns would have to pay a pretty penny to keep Chubb around as his next contract is expected to rank within the top 10 of highest paid RBs in the NFL. That doesn't mean he isn't worth every dollar though as the 25-year-old playmaker ranked seventh in the league with 1,067 rushing yards last season despite playing in just 12 games.

The Browns seem to be focused on winning a Super Bowl, but keeping Chubb around should also be high on their list of priorities. Cleveland heads into the fall with the seventh-best odds to take home the Lombardi Trophy at +1600, according to FanDuel Sportbook.
