The odds for NFL MVP, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, have shifted following Patrick Mahomes' updated injury diagnosis, as a dislocated right kneecap will keep the reigning MVP quarterback out for at least three weeks, if not longer.
Mahomes, who suffered the injury in the second quarter of the Kansas City Chiefs' Thursday Night Football win over the Denver Nuggets, is now +750 to win his second-straight MVP trophy. He trails frontrunner Russell Wilson (+155) and Deshaun Watson (+380), neither have won the award before.
Wilson is having a phenomenal year for the 5-1 Seattle Seahawks, with 14 touchdowns to zero interceptions and another three rushing scores. Watson has 12 touchdowns to three picks, with an additional five scores on the ground. Meanwhile, Mahomes is currently leading the NFL in passing yards (2,180) and is tied for first in passing TDs (15).
Aaron Rodgers has the fourth best odds at +1000 for the 5-2 Green Bay Packers, who sit in first place of the competitive NFC North. Rodgers only has eight touchdowns on the year, however, and will need to pick things up statistically to have a real shot at his third career MVP trophy.
Rounding out the top five in MVP odds in Christian McCaffrey at +1100, who is putting up historic numbers for the 4-2 Carolina Panthers. McCaffrey enters his Week 7 bye with 923 scrimmage yards and nine total touchdowns, in his quest to surpass Chris Johnson's all-time record of 2,509 all-purpose yards, set in 2009.
