As the 2020 NFL Draft approaches, Alabama is likely to set a program record for most players selected in the first round.

Nick Saban has developed plenty of NFL talent in his years in Tuscaloosa, but 2020 could be on pace to finally break the Crimson Tide's longstanding record of four players taken in the first round of the same NFL Draft.

Nick Saban First-Round Draft Picks at Alabama

Under Saban's tenure, Alabama has produced four first-rounders in 2011, 2012, 2017, 2018. This year, FanDuel Sportsbook has already put the over/under at 5.5 players projected to be taken from Bama in the first round.

Five or more first-rounders would also set an SEC record, as Auburn and LSU are currently tied with Alabama's program record at four. And six first-rounders would tie Miami's record for the most first-round picks from one school in the same draft, which was set in the 2004 NFL Draft. Before Saban's arrival, Alabama's record was three first-rounders.

Alabama's Potential First-Round Draft Picks in 2020

While Alabama failed to make the College Football Playoff for the first time last season, the Tide's 2019 squad was loaded with NFL-caliber talent. It appears that QB Tua Tagovailoa, OL Jedrick Wills Jr., WR Jerry Jeudy, and WR Henry Ruggs III are all locks for the first round.

With those four players likely to land somewhere in the top-16 picks, that leaves CB Trevon Diggs and S Xavier McKinney as potential late-round picks who could break the school record for Alabama. CBS Sports' latest mock draft has five Alabama players in the first round, with McKinney going as the third pick in the second round (No. 35 overall).

Overall, 2020 should be a historic year for the SEC. There's a decent chance the conference has more first-rounders than the rest of college football combined, with FanDuel Sportsbook putting the odds at -112. The over/under for SEC players drafted in the first round is an astonishing 15.5. The Crimson Tide are set to play a big role in that total.

Obviously, having six players taken in the first round of the draft would be a major victory for Saban as he continues to pitch recruits as his Tuscaloosa talent factory rolls on into the 2020 season.
