NFL Draft Odds Suggest Punter Matt Araiza Could Be Round 4 Pick

The 2022 NFL Draft has been an entertaining spectacle through its first two days. With Day 3 slated for Saturday, one prospect that many fans have their eyes on is San Diego State punter Matt Araiza.
The 21-year-old is largely seen as being NFL-ready after his elite power earned him the nickname 'Punt God' during his collegiate career. Even though Araiza doesn't know when he'll hear his name called, the latest NFL Draft odds on FanDuel Sportsbook help shed light on when that could be.
Matt Araiza NFL Draft
FanDuel Sportsbook is listing the total for Araiza's draft position at 142.5, which would be right at the end of the fourth round. He's listed with -114 odds on both the over and under for that spot.
It's hard not to like Araiza after everything he accomplished during his time with the Aztecs — especially in his final year. The 2021 campaign saw him break the FBS single-season record by averaging 51.19 yards per punt.

On top of that, the exciting punter had 39 punts that went for at least 50 yards last season, with 18 going for 60-plus and an additional six that went for 70 or more yards. That type of power only comes around so often, which is why most teams should consider adding Araiza to their special teams.
Furthermore, Araiza went 96-of-97 on his extra-point attempts during his three seasons at San Diego State. However, he did yield a 73.5% field-goal percentage after missing 18 attempts, so that's one area NFL teams will likely want to work on.
Even if he has improvements to be made, Araiza is a special prospect that could be a difference-maker as soon as this fall. Regardless of where he lands, it likely won't take him long to become a fan favorite.
