FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA
Nikola Jokic Fantasy
Target Nikola Jokic ($10,500), C, Denver Nuggets: Nikola Jokic has earned himself serious MVP consideration this season as the Denver Nuggets' do-it-all big man. He draws a favorable matchup on Wednesday, playing against a Washington Wizards defense that allows opponents to score at will. Washington is giving up the second-most points per game (119.1) to opponents this year, which is good news for Jokic, who is averaging 27.1 points and 8.6 assists per contest. Plus, the Wizards rank first in the league in pace, meaning he'll have plenty of chances to grab rebounds, which is already one of his best skills (11.3 rebounds per game).
Ben Simmons Fantasy
Target Ben Simmons ($9,600), PG, Philadelphia 76ers: Ben Simmons exploded on Monday against one of the league's best defenses, as he put up 42 points in a loss to the Utah Jazz with Joel Embiid out. It was an encouraging sign for Simmons, who has failed to score at a high rate (15.2 PPG) this season. If he can approach 50 points facing the Jazz, he should have little trouble replicating his performance tonight against the Houston Rockets. Houston's injury troubles have landed them in a current six-game losing streak where they're allowing 118.8 PPG, which would rank as the third-most opponent PPG among teams this season.
Jae'Sean Tate Fantasy
Target Jae'Sean Tate ($5,800), PF, Houston Rockets: On the other side of the court, Jae'Sean Tate is another player benefiting from the Rockets' injuries. The current absence of breakout player Christian Wood has opened up playing time for Tate, who has registered 30-plus FanDuel fantasy points in two of his last three games. In his last outing, he saw a season-high 39 minutes, showcasing Houston's recent reliance on him with a depleted roster. While the 76ers' defense is tough, Joel Embiid likely won't be 100% with a nagging back injury, and that opens the door for Tate to outplay his current salary.
Damian Lillard Fantasy
Avoid Damian Lillard ($9,500), PG, Portland Trail Blazers: Damian Lillard is one of the league's premier talents, and he's doing Herculean things with injuries ravaging the Portland Trail Blazers' roster once again. That being said, the New Orleans Pelicans have never been a great matchup for Lillard. The Pelicans have been successful at slowing the star down before with their lengthy guards in the backcourt. On the second night of a back-to-back and having to face Lonzo Ball and the rest of the Pelicans' long defenders, the Blazers' MVP candidate is at risk of not living up to his price tag.
Trae Young Fantasy
Avoid Trae Young ($9,500), PG, Atlanta Hawks: Trae Young is another high-profile guard with a salary that should make you look away. Young comes into this contest with three straight performances below his fantasy point average (43.4), failing to even crack 38 fantasy points once during that timespan. This isn't the opponent that screams "bounce-back game" either, as the Boston Celtics rank in the top ten for both opponent PPG and 3-point percentage, two areas Young needs to capitalize on to be of any value. For that reason, pass on the young Atlanta Hawks stud tonight.
