NBA DFS 12/14/2021

Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Tuesday, 12/14, NBA DFS action.

FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA - 12/14

Chris Paul Fantasy

Target Chris Paul, PG, Phoenix Suns ($8,400): Chris Paul is the remaining star on Phoenix's roster with Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton nursing injuries. The veteran point guard ranks second on the team with a 21.5% usage rate over the past three games. Although he posted a disappointing shooting night (4-of-14 FG) on Monday, he still notched two rebounds, three steals and eight assists. Paul leads the NBA with 10.1 assists per game and will continue to see his role grow with the absences of Booker and Ayton.

Mikal Bridges Fantasy

Target Mikal Bridges, SF/PF, Phoenix Suns ($5,000): Mikal Bridges is the other potential beneficiary of Booker/Ayton's absence. He's seen an uptick in minutes to 35.1 per game since Booker last played and recorded at least 9 shots in three of those five games. Part of Bridges' appeal is the Suns' pace of play as Phoenix ranks third in the league in overall pace. At $5,000, Bridges offers a huge ceiling in comparison to his price and we're counting that to cash in against a Blazers defense that ranks just 28th in defensive rating.

Jusuf Nurkic Fantasy

Target Jusuf Nurkic, C, Portland Trail Blazers ($6,000): Jusuf Nurkic hasn't stolen any NBA DFS headlines this season, but he has a chance to enjoy a monster rebounding night. The Suns already rank near the bottom of the pack in rebounding (23rd opponent rebounds) and could be without Deandre Ayton again tonight. Phoenix grabs 44.1 rebounds per game without Ayton in the lineup, which would rank 24th in the league. Nurkic will almost guarantee fantasy managers 30+ FanDuel DFS points if he grabs 10 or more boards, he's done that in 9 of his 11 games with double-digit rebounds.

Fred VanVleet Fantasy

Avoid Fred VanVleet, PG, Toronto Raptors ($8,500): For a player that ranks just fourth on the Raptors in usage rate (22.8%), Fred VanVleet's salary is awfully high. And, he's about to face one of his toughest defensive tests yet. The Brooklyn Nets rank second in opponent field-goal percentage (42.8%) and top-five in opponent assist percentage (21.9%). The point guard is shooting just 33.3% from the field over his past four games and we're not riding this cold streak at such a high price.

Julius Randle Fantasy

Avoid Julius Randle, PF/C, New York Knicks ($8,600): Julius Randle put together one of his worst fantasy performances of the season on Sunday, just 26.5 FanDuel DFS points against the Milwaukee Bucks. It's telling that's close to a season-low performance for the Knicks star, but also a reason he prices at $8,600. Randle is putting up 10.0 rebounds per game sharing the basketball with 5.0 assists per game, two numbers that rank close to his career-highs. But, that's going to be difficult against a Warriors defense that leads the league in defensive rating, ranks second in opponent assist percentage (21.4%) and second in opponent rebounding percentage (41.7%).
