NBA DFS 1/3/2022
Without further ado, here are three players to target and two to avoid in Monday, 1/3, NBA DFS action.
FanDuel Picks Tonight NBA - 1/3
Giannis Antetokounmpo Fantasy
Target Giannis Antetokounmpo, PF/SF, Milwaukee Bucks ($11,600): Giannis Antetokounmpo hasn't missed a beat after returning from a five-game absence. He's averaging 33.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists over his last four games, along with 60.3 FanDuel fantasy points per contest during this stretch. Now he draws a Detroit Pistons team that ranks in the top 10 for most PPG and RPG allowed this season. Antetokounmpo, who is averaging 30.5 PPG, 7.5 RPG and 7.0 APG in two games against Detroit this year, should thrive against this familiar foe.
Trae Young Fantasy
Target Trae Young, PG, Atlanta Hawks ($9,800): Trae Young is carrying the load for a COVID-plagued Atlanta Hawks team. Young is putting up a whopping 24.7 field goal attempts over his past three games, and he's produced on that volume with 30.0 PPG. Young's also adding 10.3 APG in this span as he does it all for Atlanta's depleted offense. The All-Star guard draws another team with its own COVID issues in the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday. Portland is allowing the fourth-most PPG to opponents and is tied for the worst defensive rating in the league, so Young should thrive as a scorer and facilitator in this one.
Daniel Gafford Fantasy
Target Daniel Gafford, C, Washington Wizards ($6,100): Several players being in protocols has opened up a big opportunity for Daniel Gafford as of late. He's seen 29.7 minutes per game over his last three contests -- up from his season average of 22.4 MPG -- and been productive with 15.3 PPG, 9.3 RPG and 2.3 BPG. Gafford should continue to make an impact on Monday when he faces the Charlotte Hornets, who rank in the top two for most PPG and RPG. They also play at the league's second-fastest pace, giving Gafford a golden opportunity to rack up boards.
Luka Doncic Fantasy
Avoid Luka Doncic, PG/SG, Dallas Mavericks ($10,000): Luka Doncic returned from a 10-game absence with a near-triple-double, but his 7 turnovers nearly made it a quadruple-double. Doncic's TOs showed obvious rust against the struggling Oklahoma City Thunder, and he managed to shoot 6-of-14 on field goals and 2-of-6 from deep. He'll regain his form, but he's not one to target in his current state. That's especially true with the Brooklyn Nets on tap, who are No. 5 in defensive rating.
Lonzo Ball Fantasy
Avoid Lonzo Ball, PG, Chicago Bulls ($8,300): Lonzo Ball put up 53 fantasy points in his last outing, but then missed five games due to COVID-19 protocols. Ball is finally off of the reserve list and expected to play on Monday, though that doesn't make him one to put in your lineups right away. Players (like the aforementioned Luka Doncic) have struggled to impress out of the gate after missing time, and that could be the same case here. Exercise caution when considering Ball.
