The three-man race for Defensive Player of the Year still favors Rudy Gobert. The Utah Jazz center has increased his lead slightly in the NBA futures odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.
Gobert (-220) remains in front of Ben Simmons (+210) of the Philadelphia 76ers and Myles Turner (+500) of the Indiana Pacers.
Gobert leads the Western Conference with 13.4 rebounds per game, and he's stifled opponents this season with 3.0 blocks per game, just behind league-leader and DPOY challenger Myles Turner (3.5). Gobert's defensive presence is a huge part of the Jazz (35-11) having the league's best record, including 20-2 at home following their fourth straight home win March 29 and sixth straight victory overall.
The versatile Simmons has proven to be a defensive dominator while most often tasked with guarding the opponent's top scorer. That could be the point guard, power forward or any player in today's position-less NBA. Simmons averages 15.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.5 assists and is top 10 in steals, averaging 1.5 per game. He's helped lead the 76ers (32-14) to the second-best record in the NBA.
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has not played since he suffered a bone bruise in his left knee on March 12. His odds dropped from +1600 to current odds of +6500. He's averaging 29.9 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.
Four players have odds of +10000 - Anthony Davis, Bam Adebayo, Draymond Green and Kawhi Leonard, followed by Jimmy Butler and Robert Covington both at +12000.
