Zack Wheeler hasn't exactly had the best start to the 2019 season. However, the 28-year-old righty has proven he's capable of an ace-caliber outing and should be in high demand as the trade deadline gets closer.

The New York Mets currently sit at 16-19 this season and, unless they turn things around soon, Wheeler could be available at the trade deadline if the club finds itself out of contention. Don't forget, they have dangled him in trade talks many times before.

If New York decides to trade Wheeler to a contender, here are four potential trade destinations for him.

1. Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers' starters own an abysmal combined 5.09 ERA (No. 25 in MLB) this year. If they want to get back to the postseason and make a run at the NL pennant, they'll need to solidify their starting staff. Adding a pitcher of Wheeler's caliber would provide Milwaukee with a needed upgrade over Corbin Burnes (9.82 ERA) or Freddy Peralta (8.31 ERA).

2. Cleveland Indians

The Indians boast one of the Majors' top-10 rotations, but now find themselves in need of starting pitching after losing Corey Kluber to injury. Wheeler isn't the Cy Young-caliber pitcher that Kluber is, but he's still a quality arm that would provide much-needed stability to Cleveland's pitching staff.

3. Minnesota Twins

The Twins own a top-10 starting staff (3.69 ERA), but could still use another starter to shore up the backend of their rotation. Wheeler would provide a huge upgrade over the struggling Michael Pineda (6.09 ERA) and could be the last piece that sees Minnesota take the AL Central crown from Cleveland.

4. Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks have had a strong start to the 2019 season and could be a playoff team by the end of the season. If they add one more starter, that is. Zack Godley (7.58 ERA) has been the one weak link in Arizona's rotation and replacing him with Wheeler would give the club the complete pitching staff necessary to make it to October.
