While Kelly Oubre Jr. has the raw athleticism and shot-making ability to be a solid talent at the NBA level, he hasn't quite put it all together. During his first few seasons with the Washington Wizards, Oubre never averaged more than 11.8 points per game (PPG) during a full year.

Even so, Oubre flashed big-time potential in an expanded role after being traded to the Phoenix Suns last season, averaging 16.9 PPG across 40 games with the team. With Oubre now a restricted free agent, let's take a look at the most likely destinations for the Suns' forward in free agency.

3. Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks actually drafted Oubre in 2015 before sending him to the Wizards, and a return could make sense for both sides. Atlanta has built a solid, perimeter-oriented offense centered around Trae Young, and Oubre could be the young slasher this team needs. With all of the space created by Young and Kevin Huerter's shooting ability, Oubre could have a much easier time getting to the rim as well. Additionally, Oubre could help cover for some of Young's defensive mistakes.

2. Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks had a ton of cap space entering the offseason, but they failed to land a top-tier free agent. Still, teaming Oubre with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis could help round out this solid, young team. The Mavericks would likely need Oubre to increase his 3-point shooting percentage, but he could be a nice fit in Dallas.

1. Phoenix Suns

If Oubre develops the way many expect him to, he projects as a really nice fit alongside Suns' star Devin Booker. While Booker is a remarkably efficient scorer, he's a bit of a sieve on the defensive end. Oubre has enough athleticism to become a plus perimeter defender, which could help cover for some of Booker's deficiencies on that end. If Oubre and Phoenix can agree on contract terms, a return makes a lot of sense here.
