The San Francisco Giants have been in search of their next superstar ever since catcher Buster Posey retired. They have tried and failed to bring in big names like Bryce Harper and Giancarlo Stanton. That willingness to try puts them in the running to trade for Washington's Juan Soto, though.

San Francisco Giants Trade Rumors

MLB insider Jon Heyman recently pegged the Giants as a dark horse to acquire Soto. It's a report San Francisco fans have to be eager to hear. After all, the team hasn't had an outfielder make the All-Star game since 2014 (Hunter Pence). Meanwhile, Soto will make his second appearance on Tuesday.

Heyman explained that one thing holding San Francisco back could be its lack of exciting prospects. Infielder Marco Luciano (No. 9), pitcher Kyle Harrison (No. 25) and outfielder Luis Matos (No. 65) are the only ones ranked in MLB.com's top 100 and none of them are close to making their MLB debut.

Nonetheless, the Giants could find a way to get things done if acquiring Soto is their main priority. The Nationals superstar owns a career slash line of .293/.427/.497 and has smacked 118 home runs in 555 games. His 78 hits and 57 runs scored would also rank first among San Francisco hitters.

The Giants have odds set at +7500 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
