Patient Mike Gesicki fantasy managers have been waiting for the tight end's breakout stretch all year. He showed flashes all throughout the 2020 campaign, but for every 100-yard performance it felt like he'd turn in two or three duds as well.

And just when he was finally starting to consistently heat up, the Miami Dolphins' tight end went down in Week 14. He took a brutal hit and was clearly favoring his shoulder after. While there's no official confirmation about his Week 15 availability quite yet, fantasy managers may need to get a backup plan in order for the fantasy football playoffs.

As mentioned above, this injury couldn't have come at a worse time. Over his last three weeks, Gesicki was turning 7.3 targets into 5.3 catches for 62.7 receiving yards per game, scoring 4 TDs in that time. Gesicki posted weekly finishes of TE13, TE4 and TE2 in that stretch, respectively.

He had also recorded at least 40 receiving yards in five of his last six starts after going under that total in five of his first seven outings.

If it turns out he's healthy, Gesicki should be a no-doubt TE1 in Week 15 against the New England Patriots. But if the injury is anywhere near bad as it looked, his fantasy managers may need to scour the waiver wire for a replacement.
