Mike Evans is now listed as questionable for Week 1, but you shouldn't let that worry you as he opens the season in a great spot, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting the San Francisco 49ers.

Mike Evans Status Update

There was some room for concern on Friday afternoon when it was announced that he missed the Bucs' final practice of the week, but the illness that held him out isn't expected to linger, meaning his fantasy football value for Week 1 is unaffected.

Evans has a proven track record as a top fantasy wideout, and he enters 2019 with an average draft position (ADP) of WR8, per FantasyPros.com, after finishing ninth at the position in fantasy scoring in 2018.

Always a volume monster, Evans has never seen fewer than 122 targets in a season, and he has eclipsed 85 receptions twice in the last three years. 2019 looks like it could lift him to even more impressive heights on that front, as the Bucs enter the season without Adam Humphries (second on the team in both targets and receptions in 2018) and DeSean Jackson (fourth in both).

This week's matchup is also a great one for Evans. The 49ers ranked 27th in Football Outsiders' pass defense DVOA rankings in 2018, giving up the NFL's seventh most fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts. This game's also got some intriguing shootout potential, with a 51-point over/under on FanDuel Sportsbook.

In an above-average spot to open the season, we have Evans sitting sixth at the WR position in our Week 1 fantasy football rankings.
