Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera's search for his 3,000th hit was delayed when poor weather postponed Friday's tilt against the Colorado Rockies. The situation is being resolved with a doubleheader on Saturday and baseball fans might not have to wait long for Miggy to join the history books.

It was confirmed Saturday morning that Cabrera will be batting third in the first game of the doubleheader against the Rockies. He will also be the starting designated hitter for the matchup.

Miguel Cabrera 3,000th Hit

Cabrera's best days might be behind him, but there's a good chance that he could land his 3,000th hit in his first at-bat with how he's been playing this season.

The 39-year-old veteran slugger has recorded two doubles and three RBIs in 39 at-bats so far this season, recording a .308 batting average along the way — his best since 2016.

He's also done most of his damage from the No. 3 spot over the course of his career, racking up 1,652 of his 2,999 career hits when batting third. On top of that, he's batting .406 in 160 at-bats over 44 career meetings against the Rockies, which is his third-highest batting average against any team.

The Rockies' Game 1 starter will be Antonio Senzatela, who Cabrera has only recorded two plate appearances against, yielding two walks. Nevertheless, the latter is batting .367 against righties this season, which should provide Tigers fans with optimism regarding his 3,000th hit.

Not only could Cabrera record hit No. 3000 today, but it's also looking like the Tigers will walk away with the victory. FanDuel Sportsbook is currently listing them as the -142 moneyline favorites, while the Rockies are +120 road underdogs.
