Head coach Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines will be looking to bounce back in 2021 after finishing with a dismal 2-4 record last season.
While they are not ranked in the preseason top 25, the Wolverines do open as massive home favorites against the Western Michigan Broncos in Week 1.
The Wolverines will kick off the season as 17.5-point favorites over the Broncos, according to Week 1 College Football Odds posted on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Michigan struggled to perform in front of its own fans last season finishing winless at home (0-3) for the first time in school history.
Harbaugh is entering his seventh season in Ann Arbor and will have quarterback Cade McNamara running his offense. The junior completed 60.6% of his passes (43-71) for 425 yards and 5 touchdowns in limited playing time in 2020.
It is always going to be hard playing the the Big 10 East. Michigan is set to go up against four conference opponents currently ranked No. 21 or higher (Ohio State, Wisconsin, Indiana & Penn State). The Wolverines are also set to take on No. 22 Washington at home in Week 2.
All things considered, this is the exact type of matchup the Wolverines needed to build confidence moving forward past Week 1. Western Michigan allowed 34.2 points as well as 242.3 passing yards per game last season. Both marks ranked outside the top 70 in the nation.
Michigan fans should be excited for September 4 to roll around.
