Hampered by a hamstring injury late in training camp, Michael Thomas was listed as questionable all week leading up to the New Orleans Saints' season opener against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Fortunately, the news has taken a positive turn for Thomas fantasy managers and his Week 1 fantasy outlook is booming in the process.

Saints insider Nick Underhill reported on Sunday that Thomas is officially active for Sunday's clash in Atlanta. This does wonders for his Week 1 fantasy outlook, which pits him easily as a WR2 option for starting lineups.

Thomas checked in at WR19 in The Duel's Week 1 PPR rankings prior to official news of his activation.

The Saints did add some new names at wide receiver in Jarvis Landry and Chris Olave, but this is still Thomas' team. It's easy to forget just what a dominant fantasy threat Thomas was after missing the last year and a half due to injury.

In his last full season (2019), Thomas put up WR1 numbers and nearly 100 points more than the WR2 that season (Chris Godwin). He was the WR6 in 2018 and was a fantasy monster from 2016-2019, so the track record is there.

Thomas also heads into a very favorable matchup against a Falcons team that gave up the seventh-most PPR points to opposing wideouts a year ago while ranking 29th in pass-defense DVOA.

Despite the boom, there's a word of caution considering Thomas hasn't played a full game of NFL football since December of 2020. It's best to keep him as a FLEX option in Week 1, although his skillset gives him a sky-high ceiling of at least top-12 WR numbers with Jameis Winston throwing to him.
