The Houston Astros had four players named to the 2021 MLB All-Star game, but none of them will participate. While Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa and Ryan Pressly are choosing not to attend for various reasons, outfielder Michael Brantley will be out because he needs to rest some soreness on his left side.

Michael Brantley Injury Update

Fortunately for the Astros, this injury doesn't seem to be anything serious. Brantley likely just wants to take it easy for a few days in order to prepare for the second half of the season. The Astros will look to build their lead as they currently sit 4.5 games up in first place in the AL West with a record of 54-35.

The five-time All-Star has played a key role hitting in the middle of a powerful Houston lineup that averages a league-high 5.48 runs per game this season. Brantley leads the team with 23 doubles and a batting average of .327. Overall, he has also racked up 42 runs scored and 5 home runs across 67 games played.

Brantley isn't the only All-Star not participating this year. Other big names include the likes of New York Mets' ace Jacob Degrom and Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts. A number of AL & NL players were named as replacements in order to field a full roster on Tuesday night at Coors Field.

The National League is currently a -120 moneyline favorite in the 2021 All-Star Game, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
