With Tuesday being the deadline for NFL teams to get their rosters down to the official 53 men they will start the season with, players are getting cut throughout the day and depth charts are being finalized across the league, for every position, including kicker.

Michael Badgley has been a kicker for the Los Angeles Chargers for the last three seasons. Although, he's only handled a real workload for the last two. In 2020, Badgley struggled, hitting only 72.7 percent of his field goals and missing three extra points on the season. This was down from hitting 81.3 percent of his field goals in 2019.

This all came to a head on Tuesday when the Chargers announced they were going in a different direction and releasing Badgley. Tristan Vizcaino will be the Chargers kicker in 2021.

Vizcaino spent 2020 with the Chargers as well, but only attempted two field goals, both of which he made.

In three preseason games, Badgley went 1/1, while Vizcaino went 2/3 on field goals. With neither guy getting too much work in games, it's clear the Chargers saw something they like more in practice with Vizcaino.

Los Angeles is a 1-point road favorite in Week 1 against the Washington Football Team, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
