For teams desperate to make the postseason, the time to make a push is right now. For the New York Mets, seemingly out of nowhere, this team looks like a legitimate threat to keep their hot streak going and snag an NL Wild Card spot.

How about the defending World Series champs? Well, not so much. After suffering a four-game sweep at the hands of the New York Yankees, it's damn near panic mode in Boston.

Mets Playoff Odds

Here come the Mets! New York has been on absolute fire, winning nine of its last 10 games. Thanks to their majestic run, the team from Queens is now three games back of an NL Wild Card berth.

The Mets have a 28.6 percent to make the playoffs, which is up 14.1 percent from the start of the season, according to Fangraphs.com. Their odds to make the playoffs now sit at +240, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Though they still have a bit of a climb ahead, having a rotation featuring Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard and Marcus Stroman certainly helps.

Red Sox Playoff Odds

What in the actual heck has happened to Boston? After winning the World Series, many believed this team had the tools to potentially go back-to-back. Well, the loss of Craig Kimbrel has proven to haunt them, as the Red Sox bullpen is awful.

Boston now has a 15.9 percent chance of making the postseason, which is down a head-turning 44.8 percent from the start of the season, according to Fangraphs.com. The odds for the Red Sox to make the playoffs currently sit at +400, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Something must change ASAP for the Sox, otherwise Alex Cora and his boys could be watching the Yankees win it all from their couches.
