Despite all the injuries, the New York Mets have persevered during the 2021 MLB season and own first-place in the NL East with their 32-25 overall record. New York still holds a 3.0 games lead in the division over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Well, the Mets got some great news on Monday as second baseman Jeff McNeil has begun his rehab assignment with New York's High-A affiliate Brooklyn Cyclones.

Jeff McNeil Injury News

McNeil hasn't played since May 16 as he's been sidelined with a hamstring issue. The good news is seeing him kick off a rehab assignment and competing in actual baseball games. Through the first 31 games, McNeil was slashing .242/.336/.374 with 3 home runs, 8 RBIs and 4 doubles. Still, he's a career .312/.379/.489 hitter that adds some serious punch to the top of New York's lineup.

Right now, the Mets are still pretty comfortable in the betting odds. New York owns the fourth-best odds (+900) to win the 2021 World Series, according to MLB odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. Furthermore, the Mets are heavily favored at -330 odds to win the NL East.
