Following one of the busiest trade deadlines in recent memory, MLB teams are now prepared to make their serious runs at postseason baseball. Naturally, the NL East leading New York Mets fall into that category with their 55-50 overall record.
However, the Mets got some concerning injury news on Monday night after outfielder Brandon Nimmo was a late scratch from the lineup. This marks the third straight start he's missed since aggravating his hamstring before the weekend.
Brandon Nimmo Injury Update
While Nimmo remains off the injured list for now, this is definitely a concerning sign for Mets fans. After all, the 28-year-old center fielder has already missed two months of action with a finger issue while the entire New York roster seems to have caught a case of the injury bug in 2021.
Kevin Pillar has done a solid job servicing in center field, however, Nimmo is the much better option offensively. In 46 games, Nimmo owns a .296/.425/.408 slash line with 11 doubles and 15 RBIs.
The Mets continue to struggle to pull away in the NL East, seeing their division lead sit at just 2.5 games. Regardless, New York owns the leading odds (-210) to win the division on FanDuel Sportsbook. The Atlanta Braves (+350) and Philadelphia Phillies (+390) remain on their heels.
