The Denver Broncos haven't made the playoffs since 2015 and need to start making some moves in order to improve the roster for next season. Denver needs to make sure it makes great selections in the upcoming NFL draft and Mel Kiper projects the team to make a perfect first-round move.
Kiper has the Broncos making a trade with the Minnesota Vikings and moving down to the No. 14 overall pick. He then projects them to take Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons. Parsons is widely regarded as a top 10 talent in the draft, but could fall into the Broncos' lap at this spot.
Micah Parsons Broncos
Parsons has balled out in his two college seasons racking up a total of 191 tackles, 18 tackles for a loss and 6.5 sacks. He was a leader on Penn State's defense and a player that could be counted on to make a big play when needed. He could thrive at the next level in Vic Fangio's defense.
At 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, Parsons possesses the skill set necessary to be a sideline-to-sideline type of linebacker, which isn't very common in today's NFL. He has the speed to cover players coming out of the backfield, but also has the strength to take on offensive lineman when he blitzes.
Denver averaged just 1.0 takeaway per game last season and gave up an average of 27.9 points. Both of those marks ranked in the bottom 10 of the NFL and shows that they ned to bring in help on the defensive side of the ball. Drafting Parsons would be the perfect solution to the problem here.
