Mason Crosby has been the Green Bay Packers kicker since 2007 and he will continue that role in 2019. He was named the starting kicker on Saturday following a training camp competition with Sam Ficken, who was released by the Packers.
Crosby has been a reliable kicker for his entire career and a top-tier kicker for a good portion of it.
From a fantasy perspective, Crosby is being selected as K9, according to FantasyPros ADP, despite the potential he could lose his job.
Now that Crosby is entrenched as the starter for at least one more season, he might see a slight uptick in his ADP. As with all fantasy players, opportunity is the name of the game and for kickers it's all about how good their offense is.
The Packers, led by former MVP Aaron Rodgers, project to have a pretty solid offense with the capability to put up plenty of points in a given week. Last season, Crosby finished the year as the No. 5 fantasy kicker and there isn't too much reason to think he can't finish in that range once again in 2019.
If you're looking for a kicker in the last round of your draft, Crosby could present some great value if still on the board. He only averaged 1.5 points per week less than the No. 1 fantasy kicker last season, Ka'imi Fairbarn.
