Mac Jones Had an Incredible Classy Response to Finishing Third in Heisman Voting

Alabama quarterback Mac Jones finished third in the Heisman voting this season as his teammate and wide receiver Devonta Smith took home the award. After the results were announced, Jones took the time to be happy for a player who he knows and loves rather than talk about himself.
"I just want to congratulate Smitty for his award. It's really awesome, and I'm proud for his family and Amite City."
- Mac Jones
Jones finished behind Smith as well as Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Smith crushed a number of SEC receiving records this season as he hauled in 105 receptions for 1,641 yards and 20 touchdowns. He was the first wide receiver to win the Heisman Award since 1991.
Jones was a first-team All-American this season and led the country in multiple passing categories including completion percentage (77.0%) and passer rating (203.0). He is a highly-graded prospect and is widely projected to be a first-round pick in the upcoming 2021 NFL draft.

Jones and Smith will get one last chance to showcase their talents as the Alabama Crimson Tide take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the College Football National Championship. That game is set to kick off at 8 p.m. on Monday, January 11.
For someone that used to be the third-string QB on the team, Jones has had a great season for Alabama and now looks toward winning a championship and getting drafted into the NFL.
That's quite the consolation prize for losing out on the Heisman, and Jones certainly took it all in stride.
