Luka Šamanić declared for the 2019 NBA Draft after a solid 2018-19 campaign with KK Petrol Olimpija, in which he averaged 7.96 points per game (PPG) and 4.78 rebounds per game (RPG) across all EuroLeague competitions. Šamanić averaged 18.4 minutes per game last season, but he also averaged fewer than one assist per game (APG) at just 0.88.

Šamanić has been one of the more intriguing international prospects to declare for the 2019 NBA Draft, thanks to both his potential and NBA fans' relative unfamiliarity with him compared to other domestic NCAA prospects. The 19-year-old forward is a great athlete for a player of his size, but his shooting range and efficiency has room for improvement. Šamanić shot less than 34 percent (.334) from beyond the arc in the 2018-19 season, averaging just 0.54 made 3-point attempts per game.

The Brooklyn Nets have a lot of their frontcourt players ready to hit the free-agent market, and they could spend a pick or two on a forward, depending on which current players they're able to retain. Šamanić is still a developing prospect, but his offensive upside could make him a welcome addition to a young Nets' team building toward the future.

The Dallas Mavericks lost franchise icon Dirk Nowitzki to retirement this year and could look to the NBA Draft to find another forward to replace his spot on the roster. Šamanić doesn't project as the same kind of talent as Nowitzki, but he could develop a lot quicker as a great fit under Kristaps Porziņģis' guidance in Dallas.
