The New York Mets suffered a brutal extra-inning 6-5 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks last night, but that was not the main story coming out of the game. Broadcaster Bob Brenly made some comments regarding pitcher Marcus Stroman that simply did not sit right with anyone involved.

Brenly made a crack at Stroman's attire during the fourth inning of the game. Specifically, he said, "Pretty sure that's the same durag that Tom Seaver used to wear when he pitched for the Mets."

Mets manager Luis Rojas told reporters this morning that Brenly's comments were inappropriate.

Rojas isn't the only one that feels that way as Stroman himself took to Twitter last night calling out the "racist undertones" that Brenly's comments had. The 30-year-old starting pitcher has never been shy to speak out on this types of issues before and wants to make sure his voice is being heard.

Neither the Diamondbacks nor Bally Sports Arizona, the regional sports network that broadcasts their games, have made any remarks regarding Brenly's comments yet. However, a Diamondbacks spokesperson said the club was investigating the incident.

It's worth keeping an eye on this situation moving forward as the MLB attempts to make the best decision possible. Stroman's next start is lined up to be on June 6 when the Mets go on the road to take on the San Diego Padres.
