The Detroit Lions will still be looking to earn their first win of the season when they host the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day in Week 12. The team recently got some mixed news regarding quarterback Jared Goff's oblique injury as his status remains up in the air for Thursday's matchup.

Jared Goff Injury Update

Goff originally injured himself during warmups before the Lions' Week 10 game and it was clear that he was in pain throughout the contest. He was unable to practice last week and was ultimately ruled out in Week 11. The 27-year-old is still fighting to be healthy enough to run the offense this week.

Backup Tim Boyle handled the starting duties on Sunday and looked flustered in his first NFL start. He completed 15 of his 23 pass attempts for 77 yards and 2 interceptions. While he didn't suffer a single sack, Boyle's 5.1 yards per completion mark is not going to get the job done in today's NFL.

Detroit fans are going to have to be patient with this one as Goff's availability will be determined by how he looks throwing the ball over the next few days. Overall, the sixth-year pro has completed 66.1% of his passes on the season for 2,109 yards, 8 touchdowns and 6 interceptions (9 starts).

For now, the Lions head into Thanksgiving as 3.5-point home underdogs against the Bears, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. That number could change depending on Goff's health, though. It's worth keeping an eye out for any updates that are released before kickoff.
