Detroit Lions wide receiver Tyrell Williams has spent the last week in concussion protocol after enduring a helmet-to-helmet hit during Week 1's loss to the San Francisco 49ers. His status for Detroit's Monday night matchup has been up in the air, however, there's now a definite answer on whether he'll play or not.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell told reporters on Saturday that Williams has officially been ruled out for the Monday Night Football contest against the Green Bay Packers.

Concussions are a tricky injury and timetables are hard to project once a player enters the concussion protocols. Still, it's disappointing because he's easily the top wideout on their roster.

The Lions still showed a promising aerial attack last week against the 49ers despite the loss. Detroit finished the contest with 314 passing yards and tight end T.J. Hockenson led the charge with eight receptions for 97 yards and a touchdown.

However, it would have been nice to see Detroit's wideouts getting more involved. After all, Kalif Raymond's 50 receiving yards were the most out of any other Lions player at the position. That total just won't cut it in most weeks.

The Lions will enter their Monday Night Football matchup as the +440 road underdogs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Meanwhile, the Packers are the -650 home favorites.
