Lions Another Earn Last-Minute Addition to Pro Bowl Roster
The Detroit Lions season ended just short of a playoff appearance, which would have been the franchise's first 2016. But there was still plenty to celebrate.
The highlight came in Week 17 when Detroit knocked their longtime rival Green Bay Packers out of playoff with a win at Lambeau Field. The franchise has been focused on the offseason for a few weeks now, but a surprise addition to the Pro Bowl roster added another success story to Detroit's 2022 campaign.
Quarterback Jared Goff was named to the NFC Pro Bowl roster on Tuesday. He becomes the fourth Lions player earned a spot in this year's All-Star festivities.
Goff's spot opened up as a result of Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles reaching Super Bowl 57. The Pro Bowl was moved up to the week before the Super Bowl, leaving any players from the two Super Bowl teams out of the competition.
Goff had arguably the best year of his career in 2022. The seven-year veteran tossed 29 touchdowns to just 7 interceptions while eclipsing 4,400 passing yards for just the third time in his career.
Lions fans can check out the Pro Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. ET. The new format flag football game will air live on ESPN and ABC.
