Lions Annoyed League Office With Aidan Hutchinson Pick

It's safe to say the Detroit Lions were happy with how the first round of the NFL Draft shook out. There was uncertainty about the order of the top picks leading into last Thursday, but Detroit got its top choice when Aidan Hutchinson was on the board at No. 2.
Detroit's selection came in at almost record speed for the usually drawn out draft, and that quickness actually annoyed the league office.

Aidan Hutchinson Lions
NBC Sports' Peter King released a column full of insight from the draft, and he included one nugget about the Lions' speed on the Hutchinson pick. One Detroit official told King, "We turned the card in so fast the league got mad at us."
It's hilarious that Brad Holmes and company's eagerness to take the Michigan standout actually ruffled the NFL's feathers. Part the draft's allure the uncertainty and speculation between picks, but Detroit cut right to the point by turning in their selection less than a minute after Travon Walker went No. 1 overall to Jacksonville.
Hutchinson headlines an exceptional draft for Holmes, who also traded up in the first round to select Jameson Williams. Those two prized rookies give this rebuilding team a pair of foundational pieces to build around for years to come.
