3 Most Likely Teams to Draft Kellen Mond

The 2021 NFL Draft is nearly here and several teams will be looking for their quarterback of the future. While he likely won't be one of the first names off the board, Texas A&M QB Kellen Mond is someone that teams could potentially develop and build around.
Over four collegiate seasons, Mond completed 59.0% of his passes for 9,661 passing yards and 71 touchdowns to 27 interceptions. He was even dangerous on the ground, recording 1,609 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns.
With that being said, here are three teams that are most likely to draft Mond next week.
Kellen Mond Draft Projection
1. Atlanta Falcons (No. 35)
Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan will turn 36 years old next month, meaning his time in the league might be coming to an end soon. However, unless something changes, the Falcons are not expected to take a quarterback with the 4th overall selection. If that's the case, they can get their potential future QB in the second round by taking Mond at No. 35. Ryan can mentor him until he's ready to hang up his cleats. Plus, Mond would have some great weapons to work with in the form of Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and Kyle Pitts (if the Falcons end up drafting him).
2. New England Patriots (No. 46)
It's no secret that the New England Patriots will be looking for a quarterback at the draft. There's been talk that they may try to move up, but there's no guarantee that'll happen. If the Patriots stay at No. 15 and the quarterbacks they like have been taken, they can shoot for Mond in the second round. If anyone can develop a prospect into an NFL starter, it's Bill Belichick and with the tools that Mond has, he could look scary for years to come.
3. Detroit Lions (No. 41)
The Detroit Lions have been getting a lot of attention about possibly trading the No. 7 pick. While there's a chance that they select a quarterback at that spot, there's also the chance that the Lions take a signal-caller in a later round. Mond would be the perfect second-round pick for them because he has the tools to one day bring a lot of excitement to the Lions' offense. He also won't need to play this season, so he could ride the bench and develop until Jared Goff is out of the picture.
