Two running backs went in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and North Carolina's Javonte Williams looks like a lock to be the third RB selected. Even while splitting times with another likely mid-round pick in Michael Carter, Williams proved to be an absolute beast.

Despite only recording 157 carries on the year, Williams forced an NCAA-best 76 missed tackles, generated the second-most carries of 15-plus yards (27) and racked up the fifth-most yards after contact (720).

With that in mind, here are the three most likely landing spots for Williams as we approach Day 2.

Javonte Williams Draft Stock

3. Atlanta Falcons (No. 35)

This would be fun. If the Atlanta Falcons want to ignore defense and build an offensive juggernaut, Williams could very well be the pick. He's obviously not a one-to-one comp with Derrick Henry, but he's the type of feature back that could thrive in an Arthur Smith-led offense. With Williams and Mike Davis paving the way on the ground, Matt Ryan could have a phenomenal year throwing to weapons like Julio Jones, Kyle Pitts and Calvin Ridley. Williams could help out in that regard as well, as he averaged 1.64 yards per route run last year, which was good for 13th in the country.

2. Miami Dolphins (No. 36, No. 50)

The Miami Dolphins clearly put an emphasis on getting Tua Tagovailoa help this offseason, signing Will Fuller and drafting Jaylen Waddle at No. 6. Williams could be the final piece to round out a suddenly elite skill-position group. While this offensive line wasn't address in Round 1 and still needs a ton of work, Miami could have two cracks at picking Williams in Round 2. The Dolphins will have a hard time passing up a talent like that twice, even if running back isn't their most pressing need.

1. Arizona Cardinals (No. 49)

The Arizona Cardinals have Chase Edmonds and James Conner heading into the year. Both are solid options, but neither inspires that much confidence. Adding Williams into the mix could give Arizona a dynamic ground game, especially with Kyler Murray being one of the most dangerous dual threats in the league. Arizona also has needs in the secondary, but Williams could help take this offense to the next level.
