Latest Willy Adames' Injury Update Takes Unfortunate Turn

Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames was notably absent from his squad's lineup to start the week following an awkward slide into home on Sunday afternoon against the Miami Marlins.
The 26-year-old shortstop had been lifted from that game in just the second inning. Brewers manager Craig Counsell originally hoped a few days of rest would do the trick, but Adames' latest injury update took an unfortunate turn on Wednesday.
Willy Adames Injury Update
The Brewers announced Adames is headed to the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 16, a day after his injury.
SS Willy Adames placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to 5/16, with a high left ankle sprain.

Brewers News
The injury is officially classified as a high ankle sprain, and the earliest Adames can return in Wednesday, May 25.
In a corresponding move, Milwaukee recalled Keston Hiura from Triple-A Nashville. The 25-year-old utility man slashed .216/.310/.378 in 15 previous MLB games this season. Luis Urias will step in at shortstop while Jace Peterson and Mike Brosseau platoon at third base in Adames' absence.
Adames was admittedly off to a slow start at the plate. His .208/.304/.462 slash line is a far cry from his 2021 numbers, .285/.366/.521 across 99 games with the Brewers. Adames was off to a nice power surge, however, with 9 home runs and 24 RBIs.
Milwaukee closes out a rubber game against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. MLB Odds from FanDuel Sportsbook show the Brewers -142 favorites to take the series.
