The Houston Texans remain a real wildcard at the top of the first round. There's several directions this rebuilding team could go with the No. 3 overall pick, but no one truly knows what Houston will settle on.
The latest Texans draft rumors suggest the team could throw everyone a curveball by making a surprising choice with their pick.
Texans Draft Rumors
Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network reports one rumor he's heard leading up to the draft is Houston selecting Derek Stingley Jr. The LSU cornerback is regarded as one of the top prospects at his position, but Cincinnati's Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner is widely regarded as the CB1 of this class.
Stingley was once considered to be a potential No. 1 overall pick following his stellar freshman season, though his stock has taken a hit following injury troubles over the past two years.
The 6 interceptions and 15 passes defended he racked up in his first year for the Tigers showcased a generational CB talent, but he's managed to record just 5 passes defended and 0 INTs in 10 total games as a sophomore and junior.
Picking Stingley would be a bet on the LSU standout realizing his sky-high potential. Gardner, meanwhile, doesn't come with production or injury concerns after he recorded at least 3 INTs and 4 passes defended across 33 games with the Bearcats.
What Houston ultimately decides at No. 3 will have huge ramifications for first half of the draft. The first round kicks off on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.
