While much is said of Tom Brady continuing to win Super Bowls into his 40s, or Frank Gore still kicking around as a starting NFL running back at 36, one cannot forget the ageless wonder at the wide receiver position – Larry Fitzgerald.
Fitz, who is also 36 years old, looks to have a little extra pep in his step with rookie Kyler Murray throwing him the rock. After the least productive season of his 15-year career, Fitzgerald has racked up 13 receptions on a whopping 24 targets (tied for third in the NFL), good for 217 yards and a touchdown through two games this year.
Murray might only have two touchdowns so far, but there's plenty of optimism surrounding his performance to date. The first pick in the 2019 NFL Draft has averaged 328.5 passing yards per game, and while that has mostly been due to volume (94 pass attempts through two games), the rookie has looked the part against two stout defenses in the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens.
Fitzgerald has been a security blanket for Murray as the Cardinals have thrown the second-most passes behind only the Cincinnati Bengals.
The veteran wideout should continue to see a high volume of targets throughout the 2019 season from a very talented young quarterback, something that could result in one of his best fantasy seasons in quite some time.
