LaMarcus Aldridge Agrees to Buyout With Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs shut LaMarcus Aldridge down recently in hopes of finding a trade partner, but nothing ended up materializing before the deadline. Now, the Spurs and Aldridge have agreed to a buyout, which will allow him to sign with any team that he chooses.
Once LaMarcus Aldridge completes a buyout with the Spurs, the Miami Heat are expected to emerge as a frontrunner to sign him, sources tell ESPN. Aldridge plans to talk with several teams before finalizing a decision.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports he is expected to talk with several teams before deciding, but the Miami Heat have emerged as the frontrunners. They’ve lost some depth in their frontcourt after trading away Kelly Olynyk, so Aldridge would be a logical signing.
That said, it’s fair to question how much Aldridge has left in the tank at this point. He’s averaging just 13.7 points per game, which is his lowest mark since his rookie season. That’s largely a byproduct of him playing fewer minutes, but his scoring efficiency has also taken a hit. He’s shooting just 46.4% from the field and 36.0% from 3-point range (down from 49.3% and 38.9%, respectively, last season).
The Heat are listed at +3200 to win the NBA Finals on FanDuel Sportsbook after also acquiring Victor Oladipo.
