The increase in warm weather can only mean one thing: summer is around the corner and that's a sign that the new college football season will soon begin. Several huge matchups have been announced to kick off the new season, including a clash between the Ohio State Buckeyes and Minnesota Golden Gophers.
The game will be taking a prime-time slot on Thursday, September 2 with an 8 p.m. EST kickoff. The game will be broadcasted on FOX this fall and will take place at the TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Ohio State-Minnesota State Game Info
All things considered, Ohio State had a decent showing in the 2020 college football season. They went 7-0 to start the campaign, defeating the Clemson Tigers in the Sugar Bowl to advance to the CFP National Championship. Unfortunately, that's where the Buckeyes' season came to a disappointing finish as they were blown out by the Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 52-24. Getting an early victory over Minnesota will help start their season off on the right foot. Meanwhile, the Golden Gophers' 2020 campaign was largely forgettable as they finished with a 3-4 record, with their three victories coming against opponents who finished below them in the standings.
One player who Ohio State is expecting a lot from in 2021 is running back Master Teague III. The 21-year-old has recorded 1,515 total yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns in 24 career games with the Buckeyes. That's not to mention that he's also projected to have a potential Heisman Trophy-quality season.
Ohio State currently has the 4th-best odds to win the 2021 national championship at +600, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. That only puts the Buckeyes behind the Crimson Tide (+250), Tigers (+400) and Georgia Bulldogs (+500).
