Justin Jefferson Weighs in on Potential Contract Extension

Anyone following the current NFL offseason knows that a lot of money has been given out to wide receivers over the last month or so. From Tyreek Hill's new deal with the Miami Dolphins to Stefon Diggs' massive extension to remain with the Buffalo Bills, there hasn't been any shortage of cash thrown around.
All of these mega-extensions have caught the attention of young wide receivers preparing for their next payday, including Justin Jefferson. Although he'll likely receive a huge contract in the next few years, the Minnesota Vikings' superstar WR is confident that things will go smooth.

Justin Jefferson Contract Rumors
On Wednesday, reporters asked Jefferson about whether or not he has his eyes on a substantial extension down the line. The 22-year-old responded maturely, saying that it "comes with the process" and that he's "focused" on how he can help the Vikings succeed in the present.
"I'm really just focused on what I can do right now leading the team, being a captain of the team, and going out there and performing the best I can. That’s all I can do at this point."
- Justin Jefferson
Even if a new contract isn't at the forefront of his mind, there's no doubt that Jefferson will be a paid man sooner than later. After all, his resumé is hard to ignore. Since debuting in 2020, Jefferson ranks seventh among all players in receptions (196), first in receiving yards (3,016) and 10th in touchdown catches (17).
While Jefferson's production has already been impressive, he may not have even peaked yet. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell played a huge role in Cooper Kupp's historical 2021 campaign as the Los Angeles Rams' offensive coordinator and could have a similar impact on Jefferson next season.
A major performance by Jefferson would go a long way to ensure that the Vikings don't miss the playoffs for the third straight season. As it stands, FanDuel Sportsbook is favoring Minnesota to miss the 2022 NFL postseason at -126 odds.
