Updated (Friday, Dec. 11, 10:12 a.m. EST): Julio Jones has been ruled out by head coach Raheem Morris for this week's game. Fantasy managers with Jones on the roster should speedily check if Russell Gage is available on the waiver wire.

Julio Jones is a key piece of the Atlanta Falcons' offense, and the team always seem to struggle without him. The latest injury update on Jones doesn't bring good news for his status for Week 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers, but it does boost the fantasy outlook for Calvin Ridley.

Julio Jones Fantasy Outlook

Jones is a bona fide WR1 when healthy, but he's missed three games this season and was limited to just the first half in Week 11, when he initially suffered this hamstring injury. Jones returned to action in Week 13 before re-aggravating the injury, which has now kept him out of two straight practices.

Jones' 16.2 fantasy points (PPR) per game will be sorely missed if he's unable to turn the corner before Sunday. On the bright side, the wideout missed Thursday's practice last week before grabbing 6 catches for 94 yards in the Falcons' Week 13 loss.

Calvin Ridley Fantasy Outlook

Ridley is poised to slot in as Matt Ryan's top receiving option if Jones is forced to sit. In the three games that Jones has missed, Ridley is averaging 10.7 targets for 6.3 receptions and 98.7 yards, compared to the 8.0 targets for 5.0 catches and 76.1 yards he's managing with Jones in the lineup.

Ridley's 17.7 fantasy points per game already make him a WR1, but he has the potential to treat fantasy managers to an especially great game if Jones sits.

Russell Gage Fantasy Outlook

Russell Gage is another Falcons receiver who could benefit if Jones is absent in Week 14, and fantasy managers relying on Jones should quickly check if Gage is available on the waiver wire. Gage is averaging a solid 6.4 targets for 4.1 receptions and 43.5 yards over his 12 games this season.

He's coming off of a productive game against the New Orleans Saints, where he grabbed 4 catches for 51 yards and a touchdown, totaling 15.1 fantasy points for the performance (his third most in a game all season).
