Julio Jones' status remains up in the air for the Atlanta Falcons' Week 5 matchup against the Carolina Panthers as he continues to battle a hamstring injury. Jones was limited during the Falcon's Week 4 loss against the Packers and was clearly not 100 percent healthy.
If Jones is unable to play, it boosts the value of fellow wide receiver Calvin Ridley as he becomes the No. 1 option for quarterback Matt Ryan and the Falcons' offense once again.
Calvin Ridley Fantasy Outlook
Calvin Ridley has been one of the best players in fantasy football this season and will have even more value if Jones does not play in Week 5. Ridley was shut down by Jaire Alexander and the Packers' defense in Week 4, but fantasy managers hope it was just a fluke in what has been an otherwise amazing season for Ridley.
Ridley has posted 100-plus receiving yards in three of the first four games and has scored 4 touchdowns on the season. Despite his Week 4 output, Ridley remains the No. 1 wide receiver in fantasy this year. He ranks No. 5 in the NFL in targets (40) and would see even more targets than usual if Jones doesn't play.
Jones already missed one game this season due to this injury and Ridley stepped up by catching five-of-13 targets for 110 yards in what was a close loss to the Chicago Bears. Fantasy managers shouldn't even think twice and just slide Ridley into a starting WR slot both this week and moving forward.
Ridley checks in as the No. 11 wide receiver in our Week 5 fantasy football rankings. Jones checks in at No. 9 wide receiver, but if he isn't able to play, expect a huge game from Ridley as the Falcons try and secure their first win of the season.
