The Las Vegas Raiders hit a new low in Week 8. Las Vegas was embarrassed 24-0 by the New Orleans Saints, catastrophically failing on both sides of the ball.
All Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels could do after the defeat was apologize to fans.
McDaniels took responsibility for the loss, saying he needs to do a "much better job" of getting the team prepared. He promised Raider Nation this squad is capable of much more, though it didn't show on Sunday.
McDaniels' comments are just the same old song and dance for Las Vegas. He's accepted responsibility for other unacceptable losses this season and promised improvements would come. Yet, the Raiders are now 2-5 and clearly being held back from their potential.
Las Vegas' offensive problems are especially concerning. There's no reason this top-producing unit from the 2021 season that added Davante Adams should be going backwards on that side of the ball. The hiring of McDaniels was supposed to be a boon for the offense, but it's been the opposite so far.
Now three games under .500, the Raiders will face some tough decisions at the NFL trade deadline. With the season already on the verge of being lost, that could cause the team to explore ways of acquiring assets for 2023.
