Rookie running back Josh Jacobs has had a fast start to his career, with the Oakland Raiders making him the focal point of the offense. Fresh off a bye week, Jacobs fantasy value is high, as he heads to Lambeau Field to face the Green Bay Packers.
Before the bye week, we last saw Jacobs turning in his best performance of his young career, running all over the Chicago Bears in London (the No. 5 rushing defense in terms of yards allowed per game). It marked the first 100-yard game of his career (123) and his second game with two rushing touchdowns.
Through five games, Jacobs has ran for 430 yards and four touchdowns, while also catching six passes for 77 yards. Coach Jon Gruden has said he would like to get Jacobs involved more in the passing game, which would only increase his value moving forward.
From a matchup perspective, the Packers give Jacobs one of his easiest of the season so far. Green Bay has surrendered 4.9 yards per rush in 2019, which is the seventh-most in the league. The Packers have also allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season, in half-point PPR scoring.
Beyond Week 8, Jacob's schedule has some other favorable matchups in store. He will go up against the Detroit Lions (Week 9), Los Angeles Chargers (Week 10 & 16), Cincinnati Bengals (Week 11), and Kansas City Chiefs (Week 13), which rank No. 27, 22, 32 and 29 in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game, respectively.
Jacobs is projected to have a solid week after getting additional rest, coming in at RB11 in our Week 7 PPR rankings.
