The San Francisco 49ers are planning to activate tight end Jordan Reed off the IR, putting him on track to suit up for Thursday Night Football in Week 9. He draws a juicy matchup with a beatable Green Bay Packers' secondary here.

Provided he can actually make it through the game (always a question with Reed), he'll offer real TE1 appeal in Week 9.

Reed has been productive in his limited action this season, which is pretty much always the case. In the two games he played without George Kittle (who is sidelined indefinitely), Reed averaged 7.0 targets for 4.5 receptions and 36.5 receiving yards per game, also scoring 2 TDs in that time.

Those numbers would've likely been even higher had Reed been able to play more than 18 snaps (23%) in Week 3.

But as his fantasy managers over the years can attest, that's always been the issue with Reed. He has never played a full 16-game season, and he hasn't even reached 14 games played since 2015.

Still, his upside is hard to ignore. He has a real chance to work as the team's de factor No. 1 receiver this week, given how many of San Francisco's pass-catchers will be sidelined for this one.

He's going to offer low-end TE1 appeal whenever he's in the lineup, but he's not someone you want to count on throughout the remainder of the year.
