Jordan Hicks was off to a strong start to the season, tallying a 2-2 record with a 3.14 ERA and 14 saves. Unfortunately, the St. Louis Cardinals announced that Hicks has a torn UCL in his elbow, and he is expected to miss the rest of the regular season.

That creates a hole at closer for the Cardinals, and, barring a trade, it's likely John Gant gets the first chance to take over the role.
Gant has been effective this season, racking up a 2.40 ERA, three saves and 37 Ks in 41 1/3 innings pitched. While he's not as electric as Hicks, Gant is a serviceable player who should put up decent numbers as the Cardinals' closer.
Gant is owned in 60.0 percent of Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball Leagues, so you should rush to pick him up if he's still available in your league. He's also eligible at both starter and reliever, which makes him a valuable commodity.

If your fantasy team took a hit because of the Hicks news, picking up Gant off the waiver wire could really pay off.
