Joey Votto is preparing for his 17th MLB season in 2023, all with the Cincinnati Reds. His 2022 season was cut short due to season-ending rotator cuff surgery. While it was hoped at the time he would be ready for the start of Spring Training, that might not be the case.

Votto revealed in a recent radio interview that there's a possibility his shoulder won't be good by the start of Spring Training or the regular season.

Votto had a down year in 2022, with career lows in batting average, on base percentage and slugging percentage. Some of that could be blamed on injury, and Votto certainly seems motivated to have bounce-back year in 2023, even if the Reds aren't projected to do anything meaningful.

Cincinnati currently has the third-worst odds to win the World Series in 2023 at +25000, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NFL odds.
