Jimmy Johnson Warns Texans on Deshaun Watson Trade

Disgruntled Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has made his trade request from the team official, and there are few teams in the league who shouldn't be calling about acquiring the star. Houston is in prime position to get a hefty haul for Watson, who's a top QB talent and under contract for the next five seasons.
However, Hall of Fame coach Jimmy Johnson has warned the Texans against a Watson trade, despite whatever they could land in a deal.
Jimmy Johnson: Texans shouldn't trade Deshaun Watson, even for a Herschel Walker deal https://t.co/AqG08b0JRF

Johnson doesn't think the situation is similar to the Cowboys' trade of Herschel Walker during his tenure, because a quarterback has much more value than a running back. Sacrificing a top-five talent like Watson is a loss that Houston can't afford.
"I would talk to him and I’d do whatever it takes. I’d put my ego aside, I’d say, ‘The best thing for you is to stay right here.’ Do whatever it takes. Do not lose that player."

Observers have compared Watson's request to the Walker trade, when Dallas landed, among other things, three first-round picks. While it's hard to place a trade value on a top QB, the Walker deal set a precedent.
Even though the trade of Walker helped build a contender through the draft picks acquired, Johnson believes the Texans should build around Watson. It's interesting advice ahead of the Texans' possibly league-altering trade, but it remains to be seen if they can repair their relationship with Watson.
