The San Francisco 49ers didn't face too much resistance from the New Orleans Saints on Sunday as they cruised to their fourth straight win with a 13-0 shutout.
The 49ers suffered a brief scare when quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo landed awkwardly on his left knee as he was tackled while throwing. Thankfully for San Francisco, Garoppolo provided some clarity on his injury after the game.
Jimmy Garoppolo Injury Update
While he was limping a bit after the hit and may have suffered a mild MCL sprain, Garoppolo remained in the game and played 100% of the 49ers' offensive snaps. Afterward, he admitted to being "a little sore" but said he was okay.
This is a huge relief for San Francisco fans, who already watched starting quarterback Trey Lance go down with an ankle injury during Week 2. Garoppolo has gone 6-3 as the starter in his absence, so losing him as well would be a major blow to the 49ers.
While it seems that Garoppolo will be able to play through the injury, he may need to wear a leg brace when San Francisco hosts the Miami Dolphins in Week 13. The 49ers are currently listed as 3.5-point home favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds, although Garoppolo's status will be worth monitoring in practice this week.
