The New York Jets are one of the best surprises during the early 2022 NFL campaign. New York fired off to a quick 4-2 start, and sits firmly in second place in the AFC East. With the team likely chasing Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills for the remainder of the season, New York's front office made a savvy move on Tuesday.
Reports suggest the Jets pounced on an opportunity to sign linebacker Andre Smith, who was just released by the Bills on Monday after returning from a suspension. Smith had finally returned from a six-game pause due to a violation of the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy.
Smith has been an important part of Buffalo's strong defensive roster. A seventh-round pick back in the 2018 NFL Draft, Smith appeared in 27 games during two years with the Bills and played 62% or more of the snaps each of those campaigns.
Not necessarily a starter, Smith adds linebacker depth to a Jets roster that's headlined by C.J. Mosley and Jamien Sherwood.
For now, the Jets hold +8500 odds to win Super Bowl 57 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
