For the first time since 2001, the New England Patriots have to deal with uncertainty at quarterback. While there's been no concrete announcement on the matter, taking a look at the odds can help paint a more clear picture of the situation.

And the odds certainly suggest Jarrett Stidham is the heavy favorite to open as the Week 1 starter, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Stidham (-350) is far ahead of the Patriots' QB with the second-best odds, Brian Hoyer (+300).

Those are the only two signal-callers on the roster, so the rest of the leaderboard will be comprised of players the Patriots have been rumored to have interest in. Cam Newton (+850) has the best odds of that bunch, though he could face some competition from Andy Dalton (+1200) and Jameis Winston (+1300).

Jacob Eason checks in with the sixth-best odds at +2300, then there's another slew of rookie QBs, with a three-way tie between Jake Fromm, Jordan Love and Justin Herbert at +2900. Joe Flacco brings up the rear at +3800.

Whoever ends up being the signal-caller for the Patriots, there's a good chance that mystery man's name begins with a "J," as seven of the top-10 QBs in the odds start their name with a "J."
