Jarren Duran Promotion Shows Just How Desperate The Red Sox Are
The Boston Red Sox were supposed to be competing for the American League East crown this season but instead are tied with the Baltimore Orioles for last place in the division with a 10-16 record.
The struggling outfield trio of Alex Verdugo, Enrique Hernandez (who's now been placed on the COVID-19 list) and Jackie Bradley Jr. has played a big role in the unfortunate start, causing Boston to get desperate for help.
In fact, said desperation has resulted in the club calling up OF Jarren Duran from Triple-A Worcester ahead of Friday's game against the Chicago White Sox.

Red Sox Roster News
Duran is one of the Red Sox's top prospects, but fans were hoping he could develop more after he struggled in the Majors last year.
He made a total of 107 at-bats in 33 games with Boston in 2021, finishing with two home runs and 10 RBIs while batting .215 and striking out on 35.7% of his plate appearances. The potential to be special was there, but he clearly had a lot to work on.
Having said that, Duran has looked better in Triple-A this season, justifying the Red Sox's desperation. The 25-year-old has a pair of HRs and 11 RBIs in 58 ABs with Worcester so far, slashing at a .397/.478/.638 rate. Throw in his seven stolen bases and it's easy to see why Boston is hoping he can help.
All eyes will be on Duran to see how he helps the Red Sox handle the White Sox at Fenway Park on Friday. FanDuel Sportsbook is currently listing Boston as the -172 moneyline home favorite while Chicago is the +144 underdog.
